  • Sedum - x Rubrotinctum aka Pink Jelly Beans

    Sedum x rubrotinctum, commonly known as "Pink Jelly Beans" or sometimes "Pork and Beans," is a delightful and popular succulent. 

     

    • Appearance:
      • It's recognized for its small, plump, bean-shaped leaves that grow in a spiral pattern along the stems.  
      • The leaves change color depending on the amount of sunlight they receive. In bright sunlight, they develop a vibrant pink or reddish hue, while in shadier conditions, they tend to be greener.
      • It's a low-growing, spreading succulent, making it ideal for ground cover or cascading over containers.  
      • It produces small, yellow, star-shaped flowers, typically in spring.  
    • Growth Habits:
      • It's a relatively easy-to-grow succulent, making it suitable for both novice and experienced gardeners.  
      • It's drought-tolerant and prefers well-draining soil.  
      • It can be grown indoors or outdoors, depending on the climate.  

    Care:

    • Light:
      • Pink Jelly Beans thrive in full sun to partial shade.  
      • Full sun exposure is essential for the leaves to develop their characteristic pink color.
    • Soil:
      • It requires well-draining soil, such as a succulent or cactus mix.  
      • Avoid overwatering, as this can lead to root rot.
    • Watering:
      • Water deeply when the soil is completely dry.
      • Reduce watering during the winter months.
    • Temperature:
      • It's hardy in USDA zones 9 to 11.
      • It can tolerate some frost, but it's best to protect it from freezing temperatures.
    • Propagation:
