  • Parodia - Mammulosus aka Tom Thumb Cactus

    Parodia mammulosa or the Tom Thumb Cactus is a globose, perennial cactus with a flattened top that grows to about 10 cms high and 6 cms wide. the akin is dark green and heavily ribbed, around 18 in all, which each carry bursts of sharply pointed and interlacing spines. In spring they produce spectacular open faced flowers around 5cms across in yellow or sometimes in pink. This is a very variable species with many cross pollinations creating small variations. Choose a sunny location, though some shelter from the most scorching sun will be beneficial and requires well drained soil. Keep well watered in summer but let dry out and water sparingly over winter.
